MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Chief Secretary Azad Jammu and Kashmir Khushal Khan has said that according to the constitution, the regular electoral process for the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections will begin tomorrow.

All arrangements have been completed for the peaceful, transparent, and orderly conduct of the elections, he said.

Chief Secretary Khushal Khan Khattak held a press conference along with Secretary Election Commission Raja Shakeel and gave details regarding the first phase of elections in Mirpur division.

The Chief Secretary said that all the election materials required for polling have been delivered to the concerned Returning Officers so that there is no problem on the polling day.

The AJK Chief Secretary said that the district administration, Election Commission and other relevant institutions have played a full role in the election preparations and all the institutions are fulfilling their responsibilities with mutual cooperation.

The people are enthusiastic about electing their representatives and are participating actively in the democratic process, he added.

He went on to say that a close watch is being kept on the misleading propaganda spread on social media related to the elections and the relevant agencies are continuously monitoring the situation.

The AJK government officials further said that there is a festive atmosphere in Azad Kashmir due to election activities and the election campaign is going on everywhere. He expressed hope that this time the voter turnout will be better than in previous years.

He said that 17 thousand security personnel have been deployed for the peaceful conduct of elections in Azad Kashmir, so that the people can exercise their right to vote peacefully.

On this occasion, Secretary Election Commission Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Shakeel Khan said that the biggest weapon of the people is the power of the vote and the citizens should exercise their right to vote vigorously.

He said that the polling material for the elections has been delivered to the relevant places while the training of the election staff has also been completed on time so that the polling process can be completed in a transparent and organized manner.

He said that security is on high alert for the peaceful conduct of the elections and the relevant institutions are fulfilling their responsibilities.

Raja Shakeel Khan said that no untoward incident took place during the election campaign, which is the result of the cooperation of all political parties and institutions.

He further said that all political parties welcomed the code of conduct and adopted a positive attitude towards its implementation, which will help in conducting transparent and fair elections.
