BANNU (Kashmir English): At least nine Khawarij were killed and critically injured in a joint intelligence-based operation by police and security forces in Jani Khel, Bannu, security sources said on Thursday.
According to the security sources, security forces conducted an operation in the Shad Khan Kala area of Jani Khel on the reported presence of Indian-sponsored terrorists and effectively targeted their hideout.
During the operation, 9 Khawarij were killed while one Kharaj was seriously injured, sources said.
Security sources said the Khawarij who were killed were also involved in the terrorist attack on Fateh Khel Police Station a few days ago, and their search was ongoing.
A clearance operation is underway in the area, and the search for more facilitators and escaped Khawarij is still ongoing, sources added.
“Khawarij and their facilitators are being selectively killed under Operation Azm-e-Ustaq and the National Action Plan,” it said.
