WELLINGTON (Kashmir English): New Zealand announces ‘Accredited Employer Work Visa’ with eligibility and application process.
The New Zealand government has issued detailed guidelines on the rules and procedures for the ‘Accredited Employer Work Visa‘ for foreign experts and workers.
This visa allows foreign workers to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week with approved New Zealand employers.
Visa Duration and Benefits
Depending on the nature of the job, skill level, and salary, workers may be allowed to stay in New Zealand for up to 5 years.
This visa can also serve as a means of obtaining permanent New Zealand residency later on. Visa holders will also be allowed to take up to 3 months of study or courses necessary for their employment every 12 months.
A job offer must be verified by a registered and approved employer for the visa. Under New Zealand law, no job agent or employer can charge an employee recruitment costs or any unreasonable fees.
The candidate has at least 2 years of attested relevant experience or a Level 4 or higher degree on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework. (A CV alone will not be acceptable; certificates, payslips and tax documents are mandatory).
It is also mandatory to pass an English language proficiency test for level 4 or 5 jobs. Applicants must provide a medical (X-ray) and police clearance certificate.
Visa Application Procedure
The accredited employer will send you a unique link (Job Token) for online application along with the job offer.
Prepare English translations and scanned copies of all police and medical certificates and other documents.
Complete the online form via the dedicated link, upload the documents, and pay the fee (starting at NZ$1,540), with 80% of applications being decided within 6 weeks.
Once the application is approved, the e-Visa will be issued to the candidate online.
