JERUSALEM (Kashmir English): Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday called for an alliance against Muslim nations “in the face of extremist Islam”, in yet another Islamophobic statement.

Speaking in the Knesset ahead of visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech, Netanyahu said that India and Israel will build an “iron alliance” of countries against Islam, which he described as an extremist religion.

In his controversial speech, he talked about the nexus of nations that believe in “moderation, in progress, in human dignity, in mutual respect.”

“We are facing radical Islam, which endangers all humanity and the free nations.”

“An alliance of nations that sanctify life and are ready to fight against those who sanctify death and seek to return us to the dark barbarism of the Middle Ages,” Netanyahu said, which critics identified as an Islamophobic.

Netanyahu linking extremism with Islam prompted sharp reactions on social media and from political commentators in Muslim-majority countries.

He further calls Israel’s war against Hamas “a defensive war, a war for the truth, the future of humanity.” Israeli Prime Minister also thanked Modi for his support for Israel following the October 7, 2023, incident.
