ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has claimed to have recovered Rs 2.452 trillion during the second quarter of 2026, taking the recovery tally in the first half of this year to Rs 5.414 trillion.
In a statement, NAB said the total recovery volume from March 2023 to June 2026 has reached Rs 16.938 trillion.
This year’s six-month recovery was recorded as the highest ever in the history of the institution.
According to the report, a total of 1,078,283 acres of valuable government land were recovered in Balochistan, Sindh, Punjab and Islamabad during the second quarter, while more than 24,365 affectees in housing and financial fraud cases were compensated with money and assets worth Rs42.303 billion.
It added that NAB’s Sukkur Bureau has stood out with the highest recovery figures. In collaboration with the Board of Revenue Sindh and the Forest Department, it recovered 853,678 acres of land belonging to the NHA, Forest and Irrigation departments, valued at Rs1.01 trillion, and handed it over to the provincial government.
Moreover, NAB Balochistan has recovered 209,544 acres of forest land, including Hingol National Park across the coastal highway and Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority (GIEDA) land, worth Rs604.64 billion.
On the other hand, NAB Karachi has recovered 11,422 acres of government land illegally allotted and dubious leases to housing societies and individuals worth Rs467.11 billion.
NAB Lahore has claimed to recover 1,909 acres worth Rs288.29 billion, NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi has claimed to recover 810 acres, and NAB Multan has claimed to recover 920 acres of government land.
The NAB has said in its report that the institution is moving towards a completely paperless e-office system and an artificial intelligence (AI)-based investigation system.
