ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Actress Momina Iqbal on Wednesday sent a legal notice to religious scholar Allama Nasir Madni over derogatory comments and allegations made during a sermon.
The notice, filed through Advocate Adnan Ehsan Khan, demands clarification, a public apology, and removal of the alleged defamatory content shared by Nasir Madni.
It states that his remarks have damaged the actress’s reputation, dignity, and professional life.
The defamation notice came after Madni questioned Momina Iqbal’s allegations against lawmaker Saqib Chadhar.
In a viral video, Madni was seen questioning Iqbal’s allegations against Chadhar, claiming she had received money, gifts, mobile phones, and other financial support from the lawmaker over the years.
He argued that she could not accuse him of wrongdoing after benefiting from him for so long, and that responsibility in the matter did not lie with one side alone.
The notice demanded an immediate retraction and a public apology over his remarks. It also warned that if the demands are not met within the given time, the actress will reserve the right to take further legal action.
Before the legal notice, Momina Iqbal reacted strongly on Instagram, saying that Nasir Madni made allegations against her during a public sermon.
She said she would seek justice in both this world and the hereafter, adding that only she and God know the truth behind the accusations. She also said she would not forgive him.
The actress also stated that making false allegations without proof is a serious sin in Islam. She referred to verses from Surah An-Nur and said that everyone will be held accountable.

The development comes at a time when Momina Iqbal has already been in the news over other legal matters.
Momina further added that not only is she being asked to stop pursuing her case, but they are still being threatened.
She appealed to all authorities concerned to take action for their safety and also requested the court to investigate their matter fairly and impartially.
The actress even made use of her social media account to tag important figures, departments, and media outlets to express her assurance that those who misuse their power or interfere with justice will surely face legal consequences.
