CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): The new system developed by Meta enables tracking of employee digital movements through keyboard and mouse log monitoring, which operates as their internal system.

The artificial intelligence development program of the company creates employee privacy issues, together with job security threats. The Model Capability Initiative (MCI) tool operates on company devices together with internal software applications to monitor employee software usage.

The information that Meta collects will serve as training material for AI models, which will improve digital assistants that handle typical computer tasks. A company spokesperson said the initiative is designed to provide AI systems with real-world usage data.

The spokesperson explained that our computer assistant models require actual user data because we create software agents that assist people with their daily computer tasks.

The spokesperson explained that security measures protect sensitive data, while the data will serve its planned use only. Workers at the company experience anxiety about the current situation, which has occurred despite the company making security promises.

One staff member described the monitoring as “very dystopian,” particularly at a time when fears of further layoffs remain high. The former employee who used to work at the company accused the organization of shifting its focus to artificial intelligence instead of supporting its human workforce.

The company has decreased its employee count by approximately 2000 workers through several layoff rounds, which occurred throughout the current year.

The company has established a partial hiring freeze, which has created a substantial drop in job openings from more than 300 positions earlier this year to under 10 jobs during the past three weeks.
