LAHORE (Kashmir English): Consumers struggling with inflation are facing another financial burden as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is being sold for Rs430 to Rs480 per kilogram in the city’s open market, despite the government-set price of Rs279 per kilogram.

With piped gas supplies facing shortages and low pressure, many households have turned to LPG for cooking. However, the high market rates have made this alternative increasingly expensive for families already struggling to manage their monthly expenses.

Consumers say they continue to pay their regular Sui gas bills but are still unable to rely on the supply for their daily cooking needs. As a result, they have to buy LPG at much higher prices to keep their kitchens running.

Residents have expressed concern over the difference between the official rate and the prices being charged by retailers. They say the additional expense is putting further pressure on household budgets at a time when the cost of living remains high.

Citizens have urged the relevant authorities to ensure that LPG is sold at the government-notified price and take action against retailers charging excessive rates.
