CAPE TOWN (Kashmir English): South African cricketer Lhuan-dre Pretorius has broken Chris Gayle’s world record for the highest individual score in men’s T20 cricket.

Playing for the Titans against the Knights in South Africa’s domestic T20 league, the 20-year-old Pretorius smashed an unbeaten 188 off just 79 balls to claim the world record.

The left-handed opener hit 13 sixes and 15 fours during his explosive innings.

Pretorius fell just 12 runs short of becoming the first batter to score a double century in T20 cricket; however, his magnificent knock surpassed the world record set by Chris Gayle, an unbeaten 175 for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL.

With this feat, Pretorius has become the record holder for the highest individual score in men’s T20 cricket.

Thanks to Pretorius’s extraordinary innings, the Titans posted a total of 267 for 3, the second-highest team score in the history of the CSA T20 Challenge.

Highest individual scores in men’s T20 cricket include Lhuan-Dre Pretorius  188 not out off 79 balls. These include Chris Gayle (175* off 66 balls), Aaron Finch (172 off 76 balls), Karanveer Singh (164 off 57 balls), and Hamza Khan (164* off 65 balls).
