ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, while addressing the residents of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has stressed the importance of loyalty to the state and adherence to the Constitution, saying that obedience to the state is a fundamental obligation for all citizens.

Writing in a post on the social networking site X, the minister of defense said that some misguided people in Azad Kashmir, who are following some other agenda at present, need to read Article 5 of the Pakistani Constitution, which states that one must be totally loyal to the state.

“The conversation begins with loyalty and complete obedience to the state,” Khawaja Asif wrote.

He further cited a verse from the Holy Quran, Surah Al-Ma’idah (Verse 33), which states that “The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive to spread corruption in the land is that they be killed, or crucified, or their hands and feet be cut off on opposite sides, or they be exiled from the land. That is a disgrace for them in this world, and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.”
