ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A high-level security meeting discussing Pakistan’s current security situation and long-term governance challenges has reportedly emphasized the need for an ‘administrative reset’.
Participants highlighted the creation of new provinces as a possible component of future reforms, according to sources.
The participants were said to have observed that the country’s decades-old administrative structure no longer adequately meets present-day governance, public service delivery and security requirements.
According to the sources, the meeting concluded that a comprehensive administrative reset would help improve governance, enhance transparency and bring public administration closer to the people.
The participants reportedly noted that the establishment of new provinces could be considered as part of broader administrative reforms aimed at improving the efficiency of state institutions, ensuring a more equitable distribution of resources and addressing public grievances more effectively.
The meeting also stressed the importance of long-term institutional reforms to strengthen the country’s ability to respond to existing and emerging security challenges, the sources added.
