WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): US President Trump has announced that the ongoing Israel-Lebanon ceasefire has been extended for another three weeks.
In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump said that “the President of the United States, DONALD J. TRUMP, Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, and Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, met today with High Ranking Representatives of Israel and Lebanon in the Oval Office.”
“The Meeting went very well! The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah. The Ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by THREE WEEKS.”
The post added that “I look forward in the near future to hosting the Prime Minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, and the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun. It was a Great Honor to be a participant at this very Historic Meeting! ”
President Trump said the United States is ready to work with Lebanon to protect itself from Hezbollah. He expressed his determination to continue diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region.
Donald Trump claims control of Strait of Hormuz, signals Iran deal
US President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States has “complete control” over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, while indicating readiness to strike a deal with Iran.
Speaking to the media at the White House, President Donald Trump said Washington is prepared to reopen the key oil transit route if an agreement is reached with Tehran. He described the situation as an opportunity for Iran to secure a “better deal.”
“I am ready to open the Strait of Hormuz and can make a deal with Iran now,” Trump said, adding that the waterway would be reopened once an agreement is finalized.
The US president claimed that Iran’s economy is under pressure due to the blockade, stating that the country is unable to conduct business effectively. He also pointed to internal instability within Iran, saying the leadership situation remains unclear.
President Trump further asserted that up to 75 percent of US targets in Iran have been achieved. He noted that although Iran may have restored some of its military capability during the recent two-week ceasefire, the US military retains the capacity to neutralize it rapidly if required.
However, he emphasized that the United States would not resort to nuclear weapons in any potential conflict with Iran.
On diplomacy, Trump said he is not in a rush to finalize a long-term peace agreement but is focused on securing a durable and lasting deal.
He also warned that Americans should be prepared for higher fuel prices in the near term, citing ongoing tensions and disruptions linked to the Strait of Hormuz situation.
