ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Ireland is providing special employment opportunities for Pakistani Chartered Accountants who wish to work in the country, according to the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment of Pakistan

The above scheme is specifically for qualified and professional individuals with relevant accounting and audit experience.

Applicant Eligibility:

The applicant must be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). Full members of ICAP can be eligible in two ways.

Firstly, as a Chartered or Certified Accountant or Tax Specialist, provided that they have special expertise in tax, compliance, regulation, solvency, financial management or any related field.

Additionally, with at least three years of audit experience, provided that they have relevant experience in US GAAP reporting and global audit and advisory services and the job offer is in the global audit services of a multinational company.

Similarly, tax consultants specializing in non-EEA tax compliance may also be eligible with a relevant professional or legal tax qualification and at least 3 years of relevant experience.

A valid job offer of at least two years from a registered Irish employer is required to apply, and the minimum annual remuneration for eligible critical skills occupations is €40,904, while for certain recent graduates who have obtained relevant qualifications in the 12 months before application, this limit may be €36,848.

At least 50% of the employer’s employees must be citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA), although certain new companies supported by Enterprise Ireland or IDA Ireland may be exempted.

This permit does not require a labour market needs test and the application must be submitted online at least 12 weeks before the proposed start of employment and has a processing fee of €1,000.

Family Facility

The Critical Skills Permit provides a relatively favourable facility for family reunification, while a qualified spouse or partner can obtain work permission without a separate employment permit in accordance with immigration rules.

The permit holder is generally expected to have worked for a minimum of 9 months with the first employer, before a change is possible in certain circumstances.

After fulfilling the required period and all conditions, an application can be made for Stamp 4, which can allow further residence and work without an employment permit.

However, this is not an automatic guarantee of citizenship, as separate legal requirements must be met for long-term residence and citizenship.
