NEW DELHI (Kashmir English): The Indian Air Force has mocked itself again when an Israeli-origin Drishti-10 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operated by the Indian Navy crashed near Dharampur village in Gujarat’s Porbandar district during routine training.

According to Indian officials, the UAV went down shortly after takeoff from the Naval Air Enclave near Porbandar. The aircraft crashed into an open field, and no casualties or property damage were reported.

The Indian Navy confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash. Initial reports indicate the drone was conducting a routine training mission when the accident occurred.

The Drishti-10 is an Indian-produced version of the Israeli-designed Hermes 900 medium-altitude, long-endurance surveillance drone and is used for maritime reconnaissance and surveillance missions.

However, this isn’t the first time the Indian Air Force has made fun of itself; this mishap involving the recent crash has prompted renewed attention to its operational reliability.

Earlier, an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft had reportedly crashed in the Padder area of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district.
