ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Uncertainty continues over the participation of the Indian volleyball team in the Central Asian Volleyball Championship, which is scheduled to begin in Islamabad on July 22.

According to sources, the Indian Volleyball Federation has not yet confirmed its participation in the tournament as the team is still awaiting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indian government to travel to Pakistan.

Last week, the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) sent the government-issued clearance and invitation documents to its Indian counterpart to facilitate the team’s participation.

Sources said that under the tournament regulations, participating teams are required to confirm their participation within the stipulated deadline. If India fails to confirm within the next two days, the team could be disqualified from the championship, following which the PVF will issue an updated match schedule.

Meanwhile, the organizers have already received participation confirmations from Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

Foreign teams are expected to begin arriving in Islamabad from July 20, while the championship will be held from July 22 to 29. Pakistan Volleyball Federation officials say all arrangements for hosting the international event have been finalized.
