STORMONT (Kashmir English): Ireland defeated world champions India by one run in the second T20I to whitewash the series.

This series marks India’s first T20I series defeat since 2023. In response to Ireland’s 154 runs, the Indian team could score 153 runs in 20 overs.

Ireland scored 154 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs in the second and final T20I match played at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Stormont on Sunday.

For Ireland, Harry Tector played an innings of 53 runs off 47 balls; apart from him, Cletz stood out by scoring 37 runs off 23 balls.

Prince Yadav was the most successful bowler for India, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs, while Shivam Dubey and Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets each.

Chasing a target of 155 runs, the Indian team could score 153 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

India suffered a major setback at the start when both openers, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, were dismissed for a duck on the first ball, the first time in T20 history that both Indian openers fell for a golden duck, while debutant Suryash could only score one run.

Tilak Verma stood out for India with 55 runs off 46 balls, and Shivam Dubey scored 20 runs off 16 balls.

For Ireland, Jay Moondra and Matt Hallard took three wickets each, while Matthew Humphries and Harry Tector took one wicket each.

It should be noted that Ireland had defeated India by 34 runs in the first T20I match, which was the Irish team’s first victory against India in an international match.
