ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): In a recent development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted 10-day transit bail to content creators Rajab Butt and Nadeem Nani Wala in several cases registered against them.
The content creators returned to Pakistan late last night after the UK authorities allegedly deported them. The content creators had attained a protective bail from the Islamabad High Court. The two traveled from London and reached Islamabad Airport, where they turned themselves in today at the Islamabad High Court.
These content creators are no strangers to legal trouble. In September this year, Butt was booked by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, NCCIA, upon a complaint that he was promoting online gambling apps on social media.
The NCCIA also booked Nadeem for allegedly promoting gambling apps on his social media. He was, however, arrested last month for displaying a fake registration number – ‘IK-804’ – on his car. Upon interrogation, he failed to satisfy the police regarding the display of the fake registration number, IK-804, said to be the prisoner number allotted to incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan.
The court had earlier granted the content creators protective bail, on a petition filed by the relatives of Butt and Mubarak, to ensure that the content creators are not arrested on arrival.
“The accused Rajab Butt and Nadeem Mubarak shall not be arrested upon landing at Islamabad Airport till they surrender before this court on the date fixed,” the orders read.
In the meantime, Mian Ali Ashfaq, representative of the Butt, said the YouTuber was not deported from the UK and that he was returning to Pakistan on his own.
“He has left the UK on his own independent choice to return to Pakistan and has already surrendered before the Islamabad High Court today, and by doing such, he’s granted access to reach … Islamabad without any hindrance by or from any administrative authority requiring him in any criminal case,” Ashfaq wrote on X.
