ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The weather has become pleasant due to heavy rain in various parts of the country with the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad also getting heavy rain.
Low-lying areas in many parts of Rawalpindi have been submerged, causing difficulties for the residents.
Rain has been recorded in various cities including Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir, while there are also reports of flooding in streams and drains in many areas.
Heavy rain with thunder in Rawalpindi and Islamabad turned the weather pleasant. Due to continuous rain, the water level in Nullah Lai is rising rapidly, as several low-lying areas of Rawalpindi were submerged and water entered houses.
In view of the situation, WASA, the district administration, and relief agencies have been put on high alert.
Due to heavy rain, major roads in Rawalpindi including Murree Road, Shakrial, Gwalmandi, Katarian, and other areas also submerged.
Nullah Lai situation
Meanwhile, relevant agencies have started continuous monitoring after the water level rose in Nullah Lai.
WASA teams are busy in drainage work while heavy machinery and staff have been deployed at various locations to deal with any emergency situation.
NDMA has also issued an emergency alert in view of the potential flood situation and instructed the relevant institutions to remain alert.
The Meteorological Department has predicted more rain with thunder in the next few days, advising citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution near low-lying areas and streams.
