HATTIAN BALA (Kashmir English): The Hattian Bala grid station has been completely shut down for three days to facilitate the installation of a new 20-26 MW heavy power transformer worth over Rs300 million.
The shutdown, which began at 7 am on Saturday (today), will affect multiple areas in the Jhelum Valley district, including Hattian Bala, Langla, Seri, Chakarkhawara, Dhani Bakalan, and others.
Talking to the journalists, Executive Engineer (XEN), Electricity Department, Jhelum Valley, Ehtesham Qureshi, said that the installation of the new transformer will eliminate unannounced load shedding and improve voltage across the district.
Two teams are working day and night without breaks to complete the installation within the shortest possible time, he said.
The areas that will be impacted by the three-day shutdown include Hattian Bala, Langla, Seri, Chakarkhawara, Dhani Bakalan, Bani Hafiz, Sina Daman, Bani Langrial, Chinari, Chakothi, Saran, Chhtian, Bhagsar, Kaninan, Nowshera, Kakarwar, Kai Manja, and hundreds of other adjacent villages.
The Electricity Department has requested the public to cooperate during the shutdown, ensuring that the installation process is completed efficiently.
The public has welcomed the installation of the new transformer and has demanded that the Electricity Department and WAPDA ensure its completion in the shortest possible time, considering the intensity of the heat.
