ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Goods transporters on Friday announced a 5 per cent reduction in freight fares following a massive decrease in petrol and diesel prices, providing further relief to the public.

President of the All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance Malik Shahzad Awan welcomed the reduction in petroleum prices and said the decision to lower freight fares was taken in view of the decline in fuel prices over the past four to five days.

He thanked the Prime Minister and the Federal Minister for Petroleum and demanded that the prices of petrol and diesel be further reduced to provide more relief to the transport sector.

It should be noted that the price of petrol per liter was decreased by Rs 9.41 to Rs 352.59, while diesel became cheaper by Rs 5.56 to Rs 382.25 per liter.

The reduction in freight charges is expected to lower transportation costs and may help ease the cost of delivering essential goods.
