Friday holiday abolished as govt withdraws austerity measures

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The government has abolished Friday holiday in offices as it withdrew austerity measures on Friday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the termination of the federal government’s fuel-saving and austerity measures, following which the Friday holiday for government employees has been withdrawn, while the facility of official vehicles and petrol has been restored.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the government has decided to withdraw certain measures taken to save fuel and reduce expenses.

Friday holiday abolished

Under the notification, the Friday holiday has been abolished and government employees will attend offices as per usual schedule.

The government has also lifted previous restrictions on the use of official vehicles, and the decision to keep 60 percent of official vehicles off the road has also been withdrawn.

Full petrol facility for government officers and departments has also been restored.

The notification states that decisions regarding the operating hours of markets, shops, and business centers will remain in effect to save energy in the country.

Also there has been no change in the market closing times implemented under notifications on June 3 and 10.

According to the notification, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, bakeries, tandoors, and milk shops will be exempt from operating hour restrictions.

In addition, petrol pumps, CNG stations, electric vehicle charging stations, gyms, sports facilities, IT companies, and call centres have also been exempted from observing specified hours.
