MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) announced the resumption of the polio eradication campaign after three months, starting from May 26 to May 30, 2025, due to the detection of poliovirus circulation in environmental samples.

As per details, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Mudassar Farooq, today to discuss the upcoming polio campaign, which aims to immunize all children under the age of 5 against polio in the entire state.

The Public Health Department Muzaffarabad has completed all practical steps to ensure the campaign’s success, including establishing 764 mobile teams, 67 fixed sites, and 19 transit points.

The meeting was further informed that the campaign will target 1,237,344 children, with 52 UCMOs and 156 area in-charges appointed to supervise the effort. The Public Health Department Muzaffarabad has completed all practical steps to make this national campaign a complete success.

Furthermore, it was decided that a district monitoring cell will be established to track progress and address complaints. Teams will receive daily progress reports, and vaccines and necessary equipment will be provided on the spot.

The meeting was also attended by DHO Muzaffarabad, Dr. Abdul Mateen, Dr. Shazia Khushal, Saba Shabbir, Dr. Sarwat Qadeer, Ishtiaq Ahmed Awan, Raja Shahzad Ahmed, Dr. Noman Ashraf, and the Assistant Education Officer, Khawaja Arshad Qayyum.
