MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government has disbursed Rs 532 million to the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to provide compensation to the victims of the recent Indian aggression along the Line of Control (LoC).
Under the package, the heirs of the martyrs will be given Rs 10 million, while the seriously injured will be given Rs 2 million, and the other injured will be given Rs 1 million each.
Apart from that, the Azad Kashmir government has already announced the disbursement of compensation and relief to victims of Indian aggression.
State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) said that the amount given by the Government of Pakistan is in addition to the amount that the AJK government of Azad Kashmir has already disbursed.
According to the statement, the government has provided Rs 1 million each to the families of civilians martyred, Rs 8 million each to those permanently disabled, Rs 3 million to those seriously injured, and Rs 50,000 to those slightly injured.
The government has paid compensation to the heirs of the martyrs by going door to door, the statement read.
The injured have been paid according to their category in light of the doctors’ reports, and the remaining ones will be paid in the next two days, for which all the necessary funds have been released from the Board of Revenue.
The AJK government has also announced to disburse Rs 100,000 to those whose homes have been destroyed, Rs 50,000 to those whose shops have been damaged, and Rs 30,000 to those whose shops have been partially damaged.
The government has formed committees to assess the damage caused to homes and other business centers/shops affected by Indian aggression, and in light of their reports, compensation payments will be made.
The committee will submit reports to the Deputy Commissioner within two weeks, and payments will be made according to the rules and regulations by the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
