ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Assembly on Friday approved a resolution to increase the upper age limit for candidates and the number of attempts for the Central Superior Services (CSS) examination.
As per details, the upper age limits for appearing in the top civil services exam as been increased by five years, setting the new limit at 35 years, which will come into effect from 2026.
Furthermore, the resolution also proposed increasing the number of attempts for CSS aspirants from three to five.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker, Syeda Nosheen Ifthikhar, moved the resolution. She sought permission to suspend the rules and present the resolution.
Upon receiving approval, she introduced the resolution in the House, which was passed by majority vote.
Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) conducts the highly competitive and prestigious CSS exam every year, which serves as a gateway to Pakistan’s elite civil services, including the Pakistan Administrative Service, Foreign Service, and Police Service.
As per current FPSC rules, candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age as of the official cut-off date. Additionally, individuals are permitted to appear in the exam a maximum of three times, provided they fall within the specified age limits.
