AJK govt distributes Rs5.78 million under interest-free loan scheme

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir Small Industries Corporation, in collaboration with the Akhuwat organisation, has distributed interest-free loan cheques worth Rs 5.78 million to 63 men and women.

This initiative aims to provide financial facilities for employment in the private sector, aligning with the government’s priorities.

Earlier, the government launched an interest-free loan scheme to promote small businesses and create employment opportunities. The loans range from Rs 50,000 to Rs 100,000, catering to various business needs.

On the occasion, the chief guest, Minister for Small Industries, Professor Kausar Taqdis Gilani, distributed interest-free loan cheques. The government minister emphasized the importance of women’s participation in economic activities, saying that it is encouraging for Azad Kashmir.

He said that the AJK Prime Minister has allocated Rs 25 crores to expand the Akhuwat program, providing interest-free loans up to Rs 2 million to enhance employability among Azad Kashmir’s youth.

The government has already announced that 72,000 individuals will benefit from the interest-free loan scheme from 2025 to 2029.
