ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman received financial and property benefits in exchange for supporting the 26th Constitutional Amendment, sources said.

As per details, Fazlur Rehman was initially reluctant to support the amendment but later agreed following a deal involving property tycoon Malik Riaz.

The sources claim that Malik Riaz paid Rs5 billion to Fazlur Rehman in Dubai. It is further alleged that the money was used to purchase a residence in Islamabad and land for a large madrassa on the outskirts of Lahore, where his son is settling.

The claims further allege that several properties in Dera Ismail Khan were provided to Fazlur Rehman to secure his support for the constitutional amendment.
