ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that protecting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and, above all, the Holy Mosques is Pakistan’s top priority, stressing that there can be no compromise on the protection of Islam’s holiest sites.

In an exclusive interview with Independent Arabia, the DG ISPR said Pakistan’s position on safeguarding the holy sites was clear and firm. He noted that the country’s message had already been conveyed through its political leadership and Field Marshal.

He added that the Pakistani public, political leadership and military leadership were deeply angered by attacks on holy sites in Saudi Arabia.

DG ISPR Calls for Restraint and Diplomatic Solutions

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry warned that escalating military conflicts in the Middle East would benefit no country. He stressed that expanding the confrontation was not in anyone’s interest and called for negotiations to reach an agreement.

He said diplomatic efforts remained essential to preventing further escalation and maintaining regional stability.

The DG ISPR further stated that if diplomatic efforts failed and military confrontation occurred, the collective deterrence of the Makkah Alliance would come into action.

Makkah Alliance Aims to Promote Regional Stability

Describing the alliance’s leadership and strategy as clear, the DG ISPR said the alliance had no aggressive intentions and was not formed against any particular country.

He said Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye shared an interest in promoting peace, stability and prosperity for their people and the wider region.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also emphasized the need for unity among Muslim countries, warning that conflicts among Muslims would serve no one’s interests.

He reiterated that the alliance’s primary objective was to strengthen regional peace, stability and security rather than encourage confrontation.

His remarks highlighted Pakistan’s stated commitment to protecting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and holy sites while advocating diplomatic engagement and greater unity among Muslim nations.
