ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly rejected the Fitna Al Khawarij’s claim of responsibility for the martyrdom of a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officer in Islamabad, saying the militant group lacks credibility and routinely spreads false narratives.
In a post on X, Khawaja Asif said the Taliban were claiming responsibility for a brutal murder despite having no credibility.
“They have no credibility. Tomorrow, they might start taking credit for theft, robbery, and other crimes in Pakistan. Their only objective is to claim responsibility; they have no interest in truth, morality, or responsibility,” the defence minister said.

His remarks came after the banned TTP claimed that it had martyred a PAF Group Captain Asim Tariq in Islamabad and alleged that the whole story of the PAF officer’s intervention to thwart the kidnapping of a girl is fake.
However, security sources rejected the claim, stating that the suspect involved in the shooting had already been arrested and produced before the court.
They maintained that there was no evidence linking the incident to the TTP and described the militant group’s claim as disinformation aimed at misleading the public.
