ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Claims circulating about an alleged crackdown by the Afghan Taliban on members and leaders of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as Fitna Al Khawarij, have been declared fake by security sources.

The claims suggested that several TTP leaders and members had either returned from Afghanistan to Pakistan, been placed under surveillance, or been detained by the Afghan Taliban government.

However, the security sources said that there is no such pressure on TTP in Afghanistan. “They continue to enjoy full sponsorship by the Afghan Taliban regime. Looks like a few people are being fed the narrative by Afghan Taliban deliberately,” sources said.

Earlier in a post on X, Afghan journalist Sami Yousafzai, citing a source in Kabul, reported that TTP leadership is deeply angered by the recent actions taken against its members and has even warned the Afghan regime about possible consequences.

“According to the source, discussions are taking place within the TTP about declaring its leadership independent and making it clear that the group does not consider itself subordinate to anyone while operating in Pakistan,” Yousafzai said.

He further claimed that a significant number of TTP members have been detained and that relations between the TTP leadership and the Islamic Emirate have become increasingly tense.

However, according to him, sources say both sides have political, security, and regional considerations that may prevent them from publicly revealing the full extent of what is happening.
