EDGBASTON (Kashmir English): England reached 156-4 at the close of play after bowling Pakistan out for 133 in 33.5 overs on the opening day of the third and final Test at Edgbaston, taking a 23-run first-innings lead.
Pakistan’s batting collapse began in the third over when returning opener Saim Ayub was dismissed for a duck. Seven Pakistani batsmen failed to reach double figures, with Saud Shakeel emerging as the top scorer with 43 off 47 balls, including nine fours.
England Bowlers Dominate Pakistan
England’s Josh Tongue claimed four wickets for 42 runs, while Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer took three wickets each. Robinson also completed his 100th Test wicket by dismissing Saim Ayub.
Pakistan made four changes to their XI, bringing back Saim Ayub and handing Test debuts to Ghazi Ghauri, Imran Randhawa and Razaullah. England retained the same team that played in the previous two Tests.
England’s Emilio Gay scored 60 runs at the top of the order, while Pakistan debutant Razaullah impressed with the ball, taking two wickets.
Pakistan’s innings lasted only 33.5 overs, marking the third time in five innings on the England tour that they failed to bat for 40 overs.
