Election 2026: Here’s how AJK citizens can check vote, polling station information

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has released a helpline for the citizens to get information on their votes and polling stations ahead of the general election 2026.

The election commission spokesperson, Usman Munir Sanwala, said that this was decided during the meeting held under the chairmanship of CEC AJK Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Election Commission members Syed Nazir-ul-Hassan Gilani, Election Commission Secretary Raja Muhammad Shakeel Khan, and other Election Commission officers. The Chief Election Commissioner was briefed by the Election Commission Secretary in the meeting.

To facilitate the public and make the election process fully transparent, the Election Commission of AJK’s service number 8302 will be made completely free for information on votes and polling stations in light of the instructions of the CEC.

How to check the vote, polling station

It further said the public will be able to check their vote/polling station by sending an SMS/message to 8302 completely free of cost with their national identity card number.

Moreover, the commission spokesperson added that for the convenience of the public, voter lists will be displayed in the offices of the Assistant Commissioners of all tehsils as well as in the offices of the District Election Commission.

CEC Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said that voting is a sacred trust and a national duty, and seminars will be organized in educational institutions to highlight the importance of voting. He said that the public should be fully aware of the importance of voting.

On this occasion, Member Election Commission Syed Nazir-ul-Hassan said that in order to raise awareness about the importance of voting, the government’s Religious Affairs Department should request the scholars/imams to highlight the importance of voting in Friday prayer gatherings.

Syed Nazir-ul-Hassan said that all resources are being utilized by the Election Commission to hold free and fair elections. The meeting also approved the holding of by-elections to the vacant seats by the Commission, he said.
