MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a recent development, Dr. Rehana Kausar has been elected as the President of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Academic Staff Association.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of AJK, Prof. Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Bukhari, administered the oath of office to the newly elected office bearers of the University’s Academic Staff Association.
Addressing the ceremony, the newly elected President of the Association, Dr. Rehana Kausar, said, that I sincerely thank my faculty colleagues for the trust they have shown in me in electing me as the President.
I reiterate my commitment to work diligently with my team to further strengthen the academic and research environment of the university. Together, we all have to further improve the academic and research standards in the university. We will work together as a team to achieve this goal.
The newly elected office bearers of the organization included Dr. Rehana Kausar, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, President, Dr. Fazlur Rehman, Vice President, Dr. Maryam Sadiq, Vice President, Naveed Sarwar, General Secretary, Muhammad Zaheer Kiani, Secretary Finance, Muhammad Abdul Hafeez, Joint Secretary and Muhammad Qasim Bukhari, Secretary Information.
The solemn oath-taking ceremony was held at the University of AJK, Chehla Campus. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Syed Nadeem Haider Bukhari administered the oath to the newly elected office bearers and congratulated the new team on assuming their responsibilities.
Faculty members and administrative staff from various departments of the university participated in the ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Nadeem Bukhari said, that I hope that the Academic Staff Association will continue to play its constructive role in promoting the quality of education and an environment of cooperation in the university.
The newly elected officers continue this tradition by playing the role of a strong bridge between the faculty and the administration and helping the students achieve their academic and professional goals.
The participants of the ceremony congratulated the new officers and expressed their best wishes for them. It may be recalled that Dr. Rehana Kausar has secured 129 votes out of a total of 202 votes in the Academic Staff Association elections, while her rival candidate, Prof. Dr. Tariq, secured 66 votes, and 7 votes were rejected.
All the remaining candidates on Dr. Rehana Kausar’s panel have already been elected unopposed. Dr. Rehana Kausar is a highly qualified, hardworking, and dynamic professor at the university.
She obtained her PhD from the Rainfed Agriculture University, Rawalpindi and has a post-doctorate degree from Japan. She has been serving at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for the past 21 years.
