JHELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): Jhelum Valley District Commissioner Ms. Benish Jaral formally inaugurated the National Door-to-Door Polio Campaign from 13 to 16 October 2025 by administering polio and vitamin A drops to children under the age of five.
District Health Officer Jhelum Valley Dr. Tahir Rahim Mughal, Assistant Director Training Madam Qara-ul-Ain, Abdul Jabbar Lone, Assistant Director Surveillance WHO, DSO Dr. Ayesha Jaral, District Information Officer Information Department Sohail Mughal, MNCH Program Sajid Azeem Khan, District Polio Focal Person Abrar Sarwar Abbasi, President District Press Club, representatives and journalists from across the district, and others participated.
On this occasion, District Health Officer Dr. Tahir Rahim Mughal said that just as Azad Kashmir has been polio-free for the last 24 years, this deadly disease will be completely eradicated in the future as well, and our efforts will continue until its complete eradication.
Chairman District Polio Eradication Committee Deputy Commissioner Ms. Benish Jaral appreciated the efforts of the Jhelum Valley Health Department regarding polio and vitamin A vaccination and said that in this national campaign, everyone including parents, teachers, lawyers, common citizens, employees across the district are appealed to cooperate fully with the door-to-door teams and play their positive role in vaccinating children against polio so that this national campaign can be successful.
According to District Focal Person Polio Abrar Sarwar Abbasi, the number of children under the age of five in this campaign is 43146.
Under the leadership of the District Health Officer, 20 Union Council Supervisors, 71 Area Incharges, 292 Mobile Teams, 42 Fixed Sites, and 17 Transit Teams will perform their services in 20 Union Councils in the district. In this campaign, 4,314 children aged 6 months to one year and 38,831 children aged 1 to five years will also be given vitamin A drops.
