MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Two well-known politicians, Raja Jameel Ahmed, Councilor, and Raja Rashid Altaf, the duo with hundreds of supporters, switched over to the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) along with hundreds of supporters during a public meeting at New City, LA-3 Mirpur, on Sunday, giving a fresh boost to the campaign of assembly candidate Raja Tasleem Anjum.
The political giants officially backed Anjum during the party rally in the presence of a huge number of party workers and residents. Local representatives of the IPP have considered their switch a vital push for the party’s position in the district for the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections.
Raja Jameel Ahmed and Raja Rashid Altaf were officially accorded a warm welcome by the jubilant IPP members who ceremonially presented them turbans, whereas the supporters rained flower petals.
Addressing the rally, Raja Tasleem Anjum said that people from all walks of life are joining IPP in huge numbers because they have huge confidence in positive politics, dignity and public service provided by the IPP.
The new leaders will provide the much-needed strength in the campaigns. The campaign has picked up pace across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with leaders from other political parties jumping into the electioneering and seeking endorsements of local leaders from different parts of the territory.
