MIRPUR (Kashmir English): In a major setback ahead of the AJK election, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Mirpur Division Vice President Iftikhar Tayyab Awan resigned from the party and joined the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
According to details, Iftikhar Tayyab formally announced his decision to join the IPP during a ceremony attended by the party’s President Abdul Aleem Khan and AJK chapter President Sardar Tanveer Ilyas.
They welcomed him into the party and presented him with the party scarf. IPP AJK Secretary General Nisar Ansar Abdali also attended the event.
Interestingly, just a day ago, the local PTI leadership had sent recommendations to issue a party ticket to Iftikhar Tayyab. However, the very next day, he announced his departure from the party.
According to political observers, Iftikhar Tayyab’s joining the IPP is likely to make the election contest in LA-5 Barnala constituency more tough and interesting. While the electoral position of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party has also been strengthened.
