MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Commissioner Muzaffarabad on Monday issued a public warning against fraudulent phone calls and messages falsely claiming to be from the Commissioner’s Office and offering free or discounted solar systems.

According to the order, several complaints have been received from citizens reporting that unknown individuals are posing as representatives of the Commissioner’s Office.

These fraudsters tell people that the government is distributing solar systems at little or no cost and then demand money under the guise of advance registration fees or other charges.

The Commissioner’s Office clarified that no such government program has been launched and that no citizen is being contacted for any payment through phone calls or messages.

“All such calls and messages are fake, fraudulent, and illegal,” the statement said.

The order has advised citizens to remain vigilant and avoid sharing personal or financial information.

The Commissioner, Muzaffarabad Division, urged the public to report any such incidents to the nearest police station and to retain call recordings or screenshots to aid investigations.
