KOHAT (Kashmir English): A citizen sacrificed his life while foiling a suicide attack near the Khushal Garh Bridge in Kohat, connecting Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday, security sources said.
According to the sources, a suspected Khawarij was moving through the fields near Jund and Khushal Garh when Liaquat stopped him and asked him for his identity.
Upon asking, the suicide bomber blew himself up in a panic, as a result of which Liaquat was martyred on the spot.
He was a resident of Mankoor village in Jund tehsil of Attock district and was a retired employee of Pakistan Railways.
According to initial reports, the terrorist aimed to reach the Khushal Garh police check post located in the inter-provincial area; however, the timely bravery of the citizen prevented major casualties.
Martyr Liaquat became a wall in front of the enemy and saved not only the check post but also many precious lives in the vicinity.
These incidents reflect that the Khawarjis, under the auspices of the Afghan Taliban, are trying to target civilians and security personnel. However, the army, police, and the brave people are in a state of panic in the face of their nefarious intentions, security sources said.
