RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): At least three Pakistan Army soldiers, including a captain, were martyred after an avalanche struck the Burzil Pass area, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the ISPR, an operation to clear snow to open the Burzil Pass was underway on the intervening night of January 2 and 3 when an avalanche trapped four people, including Captain Asmad and a machine operator.
The statement said that the four people were pulled out of the snow during a rescue operation after the incident, but Captain Asmad, Sepoy Rizwan, and machine operator Essa were martyred.
The ISPR said that 28-year-old Captain Asmad was from Lahore and Sepoy Rizwan was from Attock, while the martyred machine operator, civilian Essa, was from Astore.
According to the ISPR, these people sacrificed their lives to enable the movement of their forces by leading a difficult operation in extremely harsh weather conditions.
The statement said that their sacrifice and sense of duty are proof that all personnel of the Pakistan Army are ready at all times to protect the homeland and do not hesitate to sacrifice their lives for the country.
Pakistan Army major martyred
Earlier, A Pakistan Army major was martyred while five Indian sponsored khwarij were killed in an operation in the Khar area of Bajaur district on Monday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the military’s media wing, the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) on the reported presence of Khwarij belonging to India Proxy, Fitna al Khwarij.
“During the conduct of the operation, due to effective engagement by our troops, five Indian sponsored khwarij were sent to hell,” the statement said.
However, during the intense fire exchange, Major Adeel Zaman, 36, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan, embraced shahadat while leading his troops from the front.
