Banned JAAC Jhelum Valley leaders announce disassociation from group

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) Jhelum Valley senior leaders  have announced their disassociation from he banned outfit.

The senior leaders, including Raja Abdul Qadeer Khan, Waqar Anjum, Waheed Kiani, Shahid Hameed, Jamshed Kiani, Yasir Siddique Kiani, and Raja Raheel, held a press conference at the District Press Club in Hattian Bala.

Addressing the press conference, they said that they had been part of the JAAC as long as the movement remained focused on securing legitimate rights, and they had fully supported it and participated in the peaceful struggle. However, following the government’s decision to declare the Awami Action Committee a proscribed organization, they announced their disassociation from it.

They added that the current situation is leading the youth toward chaos; therefore, young people who had joined the banned JAAC because of them should also now disassociate themselves from it. They also appealed to the people of Jhelum Valley to distance themselves from the proscribed Awami Action Committee.

The participants also disassociated themselves from the call for action issued by the banned JAAC for October 4, urging the public to remain peaceful and keep bazaars and markets open.

They clarified that the announcements made during the press conference were made voluntarily and freely, without any external pressure.

The participants affirmed their loyalty to Pakistan and the State of Kashmir and called upon the public to demonstrate their patriotism. The press conference concluded with slogans of “Long live Pakistan,” “Long live the Pakistan Army,” and “Long live Azad Kashmir.”

LEAs arrest man linked to JAAC, recover weapons in Muzaffarabad

Earlier, Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) arrested a man affiliated with the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and recovered weapons from his possession in Muzaffarabad.

As per the sources, the IB and Muzaffarabad Police conducted a joint operation in AJK’s capital, arresting Muhammad Ijaz Mir, a resident of Raru, Muzaffarabad.

Officials said three M4 rifles, six magazines, a pistol, and around 150 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspect during the operation.

A day earlier, Sudhnoti police also recovered weapons and ammunition in a joint operation.

According to sources, police have started further investigation into the recovered weapons and the activities of the arrested suspect.

The arrest and recovery of weapons come amid previous operations by law-enforcement agencies where weapons had been recovered from individuals associated with the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
