ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad Food Safety Bill has proposed banning the sale of energy drinks inside and around educational institutions in the federal capital.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology, chaired by Senator Kamil Ali Agha, where members reviewed the draft Islamabad Food Safety Bill.
During the meeting, Senator Samina Zehri expressed concern over the sale of energy drinks inside educational institutions, warning that excessive consumption of such beverages could pose health risks to children.
The draft Islamabad Food Safety Bill proposes a ban on the sale of energy drinks within schools and in their surrounding areas.
It also recommends a fine of up to Rs 200,000 for those found violating the proposed restrictions.
Committee members expressed concern over the growing consumption of energy drinks among underage children and stressed the need for measures to protect students from potentially harmful products.
The committee reviewed the proposed provisions as part of its consideration of the Islamabad Food Safety Bill.
