Azad Kashmir sets up boards to assess damages along Line of Control

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir government has set up boards under the chairmanship of the Assistant Commissioner of the concerned sub-division for the accurate assessment of damages occurred due to Indian shelling along the Line of Control and adjacent areas.

The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has approved the formation of boards under the Azad Kashmir Ceasefire Line Incidents Act 1992 for accurate assessment of the damages.

The chairmanship of the boards has been entrusted to the Assistant Commissioners, while Deputy Superintendent Police Headquarters and the Civil Medical Officer of the concerned sub-division have been included as members.

The Project Manager Local Government / Assistant Engineer Physical Planning and Housing, the officer nominated by the concerned military unit, and the concerned Tehsildar have also been included as members of the boards.

The board will be responsible for accurately estimating the damages by visiting the site, as well as determining the eligibility for assistance.

The assessment of affected mosques will be completed within 7 days, while the board will submit its recommendations to the concerned Deputy Commissioner within 15 days.

According to the notification, the board will have the authority to avail the services of any other officer as needed.

Photographs of the affected properties will be included in the file to authenticate the claim.
