4-day anti-polio drive to start in Bhimber from Feb 2

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): A four-day anti-polio campaign will start in district Bhimber besides other parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir from February 2.

A special meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Bhimber Chaudhry Haq Nawaz, formulated integrated plan to launch the anti-polio campaign commencing from February 2.

The meeting conferred responsibilities to all the concerned departments and a plan of action was formulated, according to Bhimber Deputy Commissioner. The 4-day campaign will continue from February 2 to February 5, the DC said.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Ch Haq Nawaz said that the state of Azad Jammu Kashmir stands as a polio-free region with the blessings if Allah the almighty. “We have to continue our efforts to maintain this honour,” he added.

DHO Bhimber, Ms. Dr. Iram Batool, flanked by other health officers, briefed the meeting of the overall success of the identical anti-polio drives in the past.

Anti-polio campaign

Anti-polio drops will be administered to approximately 81,500 children under 5 years of age during the drive.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the performance of the DHO and her team assuring all cooperation from the police and other law enforcements during the scheduled drive.

The officials while sharing their input, resolved to make the anti-polio campaign a complete success.
