PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Peshawar University has demanded handing over the institution to the federation citing financial crisis.

The JAC said that the provincial government has failed to run Peshawar University financially and administratively.

According to media reports, the committee is also considering boycott of classes due to financial crisis and non-payment of salaries.

University’s Joint Action Committee members, during a meeting, openly questioned the provincial government’s ability to run the institution, both financially and administratively.

The committee went a step further, demanding that the institution be handed over to the federal government, arguing that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has failed to keep the system afloat. Salaries for December are still unpaid. Bills are piling up. And patience is wearing thin.

Committee members said they are now seriously considering a boycott of classes if the issue of unpaid salaries and chronic underfunding is not resolved immediately. For many employees, the delay has meant struggling to manage basic household expenses.
