JHELUM VALLEY, AJK (Kashmir English): Approximately 11 months ago, in November 2024, Javeria Zubair was allegedly murdered by her in-laws in Qaziabad, Jhelum Valley.

After the District Headquarters Hospital Hattian Bala doctor declared it a suicide, the in-laws called it a natural death, and the former police investigation team closing the case, a high-level medical board has now declared Javeria’s death a premeditated murder.

City Police Station Hattian Bala has registered a murder case against seven individuals.

Three individuals have been arrested, and police raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects. There is a possibility of strict legal action against several police officers, doctors, and other individuals for allegedly suppressing the murder.

Javeria Zubair was found dead

According to details, Javeria Zubair was found dead in her room on November 21, 2024, in Qaziabad, Sharian, Jhelum Valley.

Her in-laws declared her death natural. When the deceased’s grandmother arrived in Qaziabad from Karachi, she noticed signs of violence near to deceased’s neck and informed her son.

Subsequently, the deceased’s parents took her body from her in-laws’ house to District Headquarters Hospital Hattian Bala, where a post-mortem was conducted. The doctor declared Javeria’s death a suicide.

After an argument with her in-laws, the parents, grandfather, and grandmother took the deceased’s body to Muzaffarabad, where, after funeral prayers, she was buried in the graveyard adjacent to the Prime Minister’s House.

For approximately 11 months, the deceased’s parents and grandfather continued to claim Javeria’s death was a murder, but no one was willing to believe them.

The arrested suspects include Aqib Munir, Labeed Munir, and Kamran Munir. Police raids are underway to arrest others.

Previously, based on the deceased’s father’s application, a case was registered at Police Station City Hattian Bala, under section 174 CrPC.

The former investigative police team declared the death of the deceased, Ms. Javeria Bibi D/O Zubair Bukhari, a suicide and submitted a report for review.

This report was sent to the Inspector General of Police, who disagreed with it and, under number CPO/PSO 26766-68, ordered a re-investigation into the deceased’s death by the SP Jhelum Valley and DSP Headquarters Muzaffarabad.

They conducted a fresh inquiry and, instead of declaring the deceased’s death a suicide, sent a report to the Inspector General of Police for a formal/official investigation.

They also moved the Director General Health Azad Kashmir, through the District Magistrate Jhelum Valley, to form an impartial medical board for the deceased’s post-mortem report.

The Inspector General of Police agreed with the investigative team’s report and ordered due process.

The medical board, on October 15, 25, also declared the deceased’s death a premeditated murder.
