KOHALA (Kashmir English): The residents of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have collectively rejected the protest call of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), stating that they do not support such protests.

The residents have started to open the roads that were earlier closed to maintain law and order in the region ahead of the JAAC protest call, whereas life in Azad Kashmir is returning to normal.

Locals have started to remove the stones and other objects that were placed to close the roads. According to the sources, residents have opened the Kohala-Dhirkot road, after which the traffic flow has been restored to normal.

Azad Kashmir residents stated that they do not support such protests as they cause difficulties to the locals. Shops, schools markets in Jhelum Valley and other parts of Azad Kashmir are open according to the schedule.

Earlier, on the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, a negotiation talk was held between the Azad Kashmir government and the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which failed after a 12-hour meeting.

Despite the federal ministers’ intervention, the negotiation talk ended without any agreement, as both parties remained stubborn and left the hall in frustration.
