ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Iftikhar Gillani, called on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
The press release stated that PM Shehbaz congratulated Iftikhar Gillani on assuming the office of Prime Minister of AJK and expressed his best wishes.
The meeting was the first official engagement of Gillani with PM Shehbaz after assuming office.
Both leaders discussed the development of AJK, ongoing welfare projects, and the law and order situation in the region.
PM Sharif reiterated the commitment that the federal government will continue all measures for the development and prosperity of the Kashmiris.
“The Government of Pakistan will continue to fully cooperate with the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for the welfare of the people of Azad Kashmir,” the premier was quoted as saying.
Prime Minister Iftikhar Gillani, while thanking the Prime Minister of Pakistan, expressed his resolve to utilize all his capabilities for the development of the region and the welfare of the people.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah.
