MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has approved a qualification allowance for government officers and employees holding MS degrees and other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
According to a notification issued by the Finance Department, eligible employees will receive a qualification allowance equivalent to 50 per cent of the PhD allowance already granted to MPhil degree holders.
It added that the decision has been taken in compliance with the Supreme Court of AJK’s judgment dated June 28, 2025.
The allowance will be effective from May 23, 2017, the date of the HEC clarification regarding equivalent degrees representing 18 years of education.
The notification states that all other terms and conditions specified in the Finance Department’s notification dated July 12, 2016, will remain applicable.
