AJK Elections: PML-N completes candidates’ interviews, Nawaz Sharif’s visit announced

LAHORE (Kashmir English): The interviews of  the aspiring candidates seeking Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) tickets for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections have been completed.

According to sources, party leader Nawaz Sharif has also announced his intention to visit Azad Kashmir for the election campaign, stating that he would do so in mid-June.

Sources indicate that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz are also likely to visit Azad Kashmir for election campaigning.

Nawaz Sharif has instructed Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, in their capacities as Prime Minister and Chief Minister, to actively participate in the election campaign, with two to three rallies expected from both leaders in Azad Kashmir.

During the parliamentary board meeting, Nawaz Sharif interviewed the candidates. According to sources, over 206 candidates from 45 constituencies of Azad Jammu and Kashmir were interviewed, with each candidate given two to three minutes for discussion.

Party sources state that Nawaz Sharif, in consultation with board members, will finalize the candidates within two to three days. According to sources, Nawaz Sharif and the parliamentary board questioned candidates about their party affiliation and public popularity.

PML-N parliamentary committee

A parliamentary committee has also been established under the leadership of Amir Muqam for the Azad Kashmir elections.

The candidates stated that Kashmiris have made sacrifices for freedom and that the Muslim League-N is the true heir to the Kashmiri ideology and martyrs.

In his address to the parliamentary board meeting, Nawaz Sharif said that he himself is a Kashmiri and love for Kashmiris is in his blood.

He said that he would personally go to Azad Kashmir elections to seek votes for his candidates. Nawaz Sharif stated that a Muslim League-N government would be established in Azad Kashmir, just as in the federation and Punjab.

The parliamentary board meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-N was held under the chairmanship of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, among other leaders.
