MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has dismissed a letter falsely attributed to the Commission claiming that the upcoming general elections in the region have been postponed.
In a statement, an Election Commission spokesperson said the letter, which is being shared on circulating on social media using the electoral body’s letterhead, has no connection with either the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) or the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesperson urged all political parties, candidates, media representatives, and the public not to believe or circulate such baseless and misleading information and to rely only on official announcements issued by the Election Commission and the Information Department.
The Election Commission of AJK reiterates that God willing, the general elections will be held on their scheduled time, as per the issued election schedule.
“Any change in the election programme, if any, will be announced only through an authorized and official notification of the Election Commission,” the statement added.
The spokesperson also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified and fake information and to exercise responsible conduct and rely only on information obtained from authentic sources.
