MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission on Thursday postponed polling in constituency LA-24 Sudhnoti-II (Baloch) following the death of candidate Zahid Yasin, as the elections have been scheduled for July 27 in the region.
According to an Election Commission spokesperson, the Returning Officer submitted a request to the commission after the candidate’s death, upon which the commission postponed the election as per the relevant laws and rules.
The spokesperson added that the election schedule for this constituency will be issued later.
As per the electoral rules, polling gets postponed in the event of the death of any candidate in any constituency.
